Change Healthcare, Inc., (CHC), a service provider to Medical Associates Health Plans, was the victim of a criminal cyberattack on February 21, 2024. CHC provides a variety of services to Medical Associates Health Plans, including transmission of claims and payments, member eligibility lookup for providers, and production of payment remittance and explanation of benefit forms. A large quantity of data was exfiltrated in this attack, which CHC anticipates will affect a substantial proportion of people in America.
On June 20, 2021, CHC notified Medical Associates Health Plans that Protected Health Information (PHI) for our members was breached in the cyberattack on CHC systems. Breached data may include contact and demographic information (names, addresses, etc.), health insurance information (member numbers and coverage details), and health information (providers, diagnoses, medicines, service codes, etc.). Specific names and details of individuals included in the breach are not yet available. However, CHC is offering the following for anyone potentially impacted:

Helpful Tips:
- Be on the lookout and regularly monitor your billing statements and EOBs, as well as financial documents to check for any unfamiliar activity.
- If you notice any health care services you did not receive listed on an EOB, contact Medical Associates Health Plans.
- If you notice any suspicious activity on bank, credit card statements or tax returns, contact your financial institution.
- If you believe you are the victim of a crime, contact local law enforcement authorities and file a police report.
