Personalized Care – Our Case Managers act as a resource for the various types of plans – Full pay, co-pay, Point of Service, and Medicare. This gives our members a “go to” person...someone to answer their questions and to be their advocate.

  • Locally based service – we are your neighbors, your friends – we have a vested interest in providing quality care. Our members can get their questions answered quickly.
  • Quality, Cost Effective Care – This is our strength! Our Nurses are aware of all of the services available so before a member is referred out of plan we make sure that all internal resources are utilized. And then once a member is referred out of plan, we help ensure that the member is redirected back in plan when appropriate.
  • Less Paperwork /Less Hassle – Our members need only call Health Care Services about care needed out of service area such as for students and vacationers. The Case Manager will walk the member through getting the care they need, and no paperwork is needed. Our 800-telephone number is good within the boundaries of the U.S. and is answered 24 hours a day.
  • Continuity of Care – Health Care Services staff work to coordinate care for our members. We make the transition from hospital to home a smooth one, and coordinate emergent /urgent care that is needed out of the service area. If after hours, and an inpatient admission, emergency care, or out of area care is needed, Health Care Services stays informed and can follow-up as needed so the claim is processed in a timely manner.
  • Value added service – many insurance companies have additional charges for the above types of services. Medical Associates Health Plans includes all of these services with their coverage.

The Health Care Services nurses are available 24/7.

Medical Associates Health Plans provides a team of highly skilled nurse case managers who comprise our Health Care Services Department. Together they coordinate a wide range of care for members, communicating directly with practitioners, health facilities, and enrollees to ensure smooth delivery of services. From out-of-area care to preauthorization of hospital admissions, nursing staff is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

After Hours, Weekends, Holidays: Calls are answered by our 24-hour HELP nurses, who gather complete details and fax the information to our Health Care Services staff on the next business day. When a case requires immediate attention, the HELP Nurse will contact a member of the Health Care Services nursing staff at a designated after-hours telephone number.

For Referring Physicians: Physician Access Services Program

The Physician Access Services Program provides easy access for referring physicians to schedule consultations for their patients with Medical Associates Clinic providers in Dubuque. Our program ensures scheduling ease and timely follow up reports. Physician Access staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, by calling our toll free number 1-800-622-3828.
